The South Carolina Cooperative Council was organized in 1953 and chartered as a non-profit educational organization in 1964.

The Council is managed by a part-time executive director who reports to the board.

There are 12 directors representing cooperatives within the state of South Carolina, and three advisory members who represent 4-H, FFA and USDA.

The Council's mission is to provide cooperative education and it annually sponsors a Cooperative Education Conference for Couples where information about cooperative principles and practices is facilitated by cooperative leaders. The program is designed to give couples a better understanding of how cooperatives operate.

Each year at the Council's annual meeting, a Distinguished Cooperator of the Year is presented.

Annually, the Council sends high school students to the National Institute for Cooperative Education (NICE).

In addition, the Council meets with agricultural educators to update them about the Council's programs and provides materials about cooperatives for their classroom.

We invite you to attend one of our education events. Our members are more than happy to answer any questions you may have about the organization and how you can join.
